How Our Mowing Service Works (And What You Should Know)

Image
How Our Mowing Service Works  (And What You Should Know) We get it—you just want the lawn cut, the place to look clean, and not have to think about it. That’s exactly how we’ve built our mowing service: clear expectations, reliable work, and no surprises. Still, there are a few things worth knowing so we’re all on the same page. Here’s how it works: Do you do an initial cleanup or charge more for overgrown lawns? Yes. If your lawn is really overgrown, we’ll probably need to go over it more than once to get it under control. When that happens, the first mow is billed at double the regular rate. If it’s more than 12” tall, we’ll need to bring out a brush mower—there’s an extra charge for that. How do I cancel service? We have a 4-mow minimum. If you cancel before we complete your first four cuts, we’ll bill you for the remaining ones. We don’t like doing that, but it helps cover our time planning and scheduling.  Will my price ever go up? We try to keep pricing stab...

What We Do on Rain Days

Image
What We Do on Rain Days Rainy days are a part of the job in lawn care—and while they might slow us down, they don’t stop us. At Fresh Cut Pros, we’ve built systems to keep things moving even when the weather doesn’t cooperate. Here's how we handle rain days and what you can expect from us when the skies are gray. We Stay Productive at the Shop When conditions prevent us from mowing or fertilizing safely, our crews don’t sit idle. We use that time to: • Perform preventative maintenance on our equipment • Clean and sharpen blades • Prepare for upcoming landscape jobs like mulch installs or bed maintenance Taking care of our tools on a rain day helps us move faster and deliver cleaner results when the grass dries. Service Might Be Delayed—But Only Briefly If we’re delayed due to rain, we’ll still aim to complete your service within the business week (Monday through Friday). If it’s just a one-day delay, we don’t send a notification—we know you’re aware of the weather, and we’ll ...

Why Timing Matters in Lawn Care Programs

Why Timing Matters in Lawn Care Programs If you’ve ever wondered why your lawn care program follows a specific schedule—or why you might still spot a few dandelions even after treatment—here’s what’s really going on. At Fresh Cut Pros , we don’t just show up and spray. Our program is carefully timed to give your lawn the best results all season long. Visit 1 – Fertilization The first visit kicks off the season with a dose of fertilizer to wake up your lawn after winter. This promotes early green-up and helps thicken the turf before weeds have a chance to move in. Visit 2 – Pre-Emergent Weed Control Timing is everything with this one. Pre-emergents work by forming a barrier in the soil that stops weed seeds—like crabgrass—from germinating. But if we’re late? That barrier doesn’t work. That’s why we aim to apply it before soil temps hit 55°F —usually in early spring. 🌼 But What About the Dandelions? You might still see some—and here’s why. Dandelions often blow in from neig...

Will My Lawn Always Be Mowed on the Same Day?

Will My Lawn Always Be Mowed on the Same Day? At Fresh Cut Pros, we aim to keep things simple, consistent, and professional —especially when it comes to lawn mowing and fertilization in areas like Shorewood, Joliet, Plainfield, Minooka, and Channahon . Most of the time, your mowing will happen on the same day each week , but there are exceptions—weather, equipment breakdowns, or staffing can cause delays. In the past, we sent emails for every minor delay. But after dozens of messages, we realized that wasn’t simple or helpful—it just created clutter for you and extra admin time for us. Now, here’s how it works: If we’re delayed by 1 day, no worries—we’ll be there. If we’re delayed more than 3 days or need to reschedule , we’ll reach out directly. So if we’re not there on Tuesday like last week—relax. We’ll likely be there Wednesday. We're here to keep your lawn looking great with as little stress as possible. That’s the Fresh Cut way. 📍 Serving Shorewood, Joliet, ...
